When you start your LMS project it is essential to educate your team on the goals and final expected outcomes of the project. Therefore, you need to exactly have an idea of what the final goal for your LMS should be. Then is easier to get your entire core team on the same page as you are. How will the LMS serve its purpose? Will it be focused on a single department or will it be opened to the entire company?

Analyze the existing workflow

It is essential that you assign three key factors of ‘What’, ‘Who’ and ‘When’. 

First, you need to identify what needs to be done. This may be things from other technical requirements or hardware you will need for the system to booking a demo with a vendor. Afterward, you must clearly define who will be assigned to ensure of completion of all the tasks. Finally, it is your duty to set a specific timeline for the completion of each task.

Communication is the key

As an end process, you must define a greater communication plan that will effectively communicate among your workforce. This communication plan must include communication flow from the core implementation team to the management level and to the whole organization. Here it’s also important that you plan how often updates occur throughout the implementation. Therefore, it is imperative that you must document the communication plan to make sure that the people are accountable for their actions.

Get help from the IT department and experts

Once the implementation has been completed you must speak to your IT department to determine the following.

  • How you can easily train new users on your newly created LMS?
  • Which departments are accountable for post-implementation maintenance of LMS?
  • Which actions need to be taken to make LMS more relevant and up to date?

Finally, you must identify of granting access and persons when it comes to editing the materials.
