SMEs from Various Industries Gather at 2013 SME BizTech Summit

SMBWorld Asia’s 2nd Annual SME BizTech Summit, held at Hilton Hotel Singapore on 27 June 2013, attracted participants from industries ranging from Business Services to Retail to Manufacturing and Construction. More than half of the attendees were senior directors, CEOs and business owners from SMEs in Singapore.

A broad mix of 22 speakers from technology vendors, SME business owners and senior executives spoke during the summit.

Tech companies and sponsors Hewlett Packard, Konica Minolta and Avaya were on hand to provide advice for SMEs to find the most viable technology solutions for their needs. Exhibitors at the event also included SingTel, M1, NEC, Citic Telecom, Toshiba and NEC.

Participants at the summit indicated that the economic situation, workforce issues and operational expenses were their top business concerns and a core reason why they attended the conference.

Francis Chu, a speaker with the SME Infocomm Enabler Division at IDA Singapore explained how local companies can apply for financial assistance to improve their operations and business efficiency and the benefits and funding from the government’s iSprint programme.

Abilash Pillai from AMI-Partners, a technology and SME research consultancy, spoke about the opportunities and pitfalls to avoid if you are an SME business.

Business owners from several leading SME organisations in Singapore such as PestBusters, KinderGolf, WTP The Furniture Company, NTUC Learning Hub, LUNCH Actually and HungryGoWhere took centre stage as speakers during the afternoon conference sessions.

The SME BizTech Summit is an annual event and a crucial resource for senior business management and professionals working in small to mid-size businesses.
